Who is Music++ for?
Music++ is intended for two kinds of musicians.  The first are those "classical" musicians who want to perform concertos, sonatas, or other solo pieces while the program plays the orchestra, or other accompanying instruments.  In this way, Music++ creates a laboratory for exploring musical expression in an environment that allows the live player to hear the  solo part in the context of the musical whole.  Many have found that Music++ encourages more musical thinking than the practice room does, employing an orchestra that never tires of supporting your musical ideas.  In addition to this educational component many have found the program quite enjoyable as well.  It is worth noting that Music++ tries to follow whatever the soloist does.  Thus, the program is designed for sophisticated musicians who actively want to lead the performance.

I also hope that composers will also benefit from this technology.   Since the "accompaniments" generated by Music++ are computer controlled, the program can achieve superhuman virtuosity both in terms of fast notes and rhythmic complexity --- several composers have already written explicitly for this capability of Music++.   I believe the program opens up  possibilities for new music scored for live acoustic instruments and accompanying electronics.  I hope soon to release a version of this program that outputs MIDI, using an arbitrary MIDI score supplied by the composer.  Musicians interested in such a system will likely anticipate the ways the output MIDI stream can drive a wide range of sound generation engines.
